Event Information

The 2003 NHK Trophy is the last competition of six international senior events of the ISU Grand Prix Series of Figure Skating for Ladies, Men, Pairs and Ice Dancing. The competition is organized by the Japan Skating Federation (JSF) and co-organized by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). The 2003 NHK Trophy will be held at the gAsahikawa Taisetsu Arenah in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, mid-part of northern island of Japan from November 26th to 30th, 2003 which is the third event in Asahikawa since 1990.

 


The invitation is addressed to selected ISU Members to enter participants in the 2003 NHK Trophy. The Competition will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2002, the ISU Special Regulations Figure Skating 2002, ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing 2002,  relevant ISU Communications and the 2002/2003 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2003/2004 Technical Announcement.

 Participation in the 2003 NHK Trophy is open to all invited skaters who belong to an ISU Member, as per Rule 109, paragraph 1, and qualify with regard to eligibility, according to Rule 102, provided their ages fall within the limits specified in Rule 108, paragraph 2 and they meet the participation, citizenship and residency requirements in Rule 109, paragraph 2 through 5.

Original Dance

"Swing Combo"

In accordance with ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing, Rule 509, ISU Communication 1207
 and all pertinent ISU Communication 1209. Any 2 or 3 of the following: Swing, Jive, Boogie Woogie, 
Jitterbug, Rock Nf Roll and/or Blues (not Twist or Disco). Modern versions of this music are acceptable.
Any gSwingh music is permitted as described in the gIce Dance Rhythms Booklet and Compact Disc 1995h 
for dances which originated in the period 1920fs to 1950fs. Vocal music is permitted.
Duration: 2 min., 30 sec. +/-10sec.
Free Dance

In accordance with ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing 2002, Rule 510, the ISU Communication 1207 and all pertinent ISU Communications.

 City of Asahikawa

The City of Asahikawa is located at northern island of Japan. The City is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and the biggest mountain, Mt. Taisetsu locates in the middle of the largest National Park in the country.

Typical food is "Asahikawa Ramen" hot noodles with soy sauce based soup.
